...start tuning the newly re-strung Penelope the Ukulele. I took her into the music store (a different one than where I bought her), and in two hours, I got a call saying she was ready. (The store where I got her said it would take about a week).
She was ready at about 3:40, but I only just got her because the fabulous RACHEL was over at my house. It was so much fun. I haven't seen her since this summer!
Also, nose bleeds are the bane of my existence. Last night, I got so fed up of using tissue after tissue, I tried that thing from She's the Man. It actually worked.

...and it's pretty fucking depressing. I told them I didn't want to watch it...esp. with my one dog getting so old. (He's nearly 15).
Anyway, I'm taking Penelope the Second to get re-strung tomorrow. I lead an exciting life.
I'm going to go watch Dorm Life.

...but the music store didn't offer to re-string it, and the lady working "doesn't like to re-string anything that's not a 6-string guitar," so I had to embark on restringing it myself.
I *hate* restringing instruments. It totally freaks me out and frays my nerves. I'm always afraid I'm going to fuck up the string (and, if you fuck up one, you have to buy a whole new pack) or fuck up the instrument. Plus, after what happened with Penelope the First, I'm petrified that I'm going to find something wrong again.
But, I decided to just bite the bullet and do it. (Plus, the other music store where I got Penelope the First re-strung is closed until Monday). It took me nearly an hour...to do one string.
So, I'm just going to leave it until Monday. My E and A strings are pretty well stretched, so they sound fine. The C string is looped oddly on the peg, so tuning it is kind of counter-intelligent, but it's nothing I can't manage for a couple of days.
In other news, I'm babysitting this afternoon. It's only for a few hours, but it's the same family that came home three hours late the last time I sat, so I'm blogging early just in case.
Hope all of you are doing well.

...is off to a good start. I got to hang with Jacky, watch Dorm Life and Up, and eat pizza.
Okay, so I haven't eaten the pizza yet, which is why this entry is going to be so short.
Told you.

...and not just about the year in review. I'm too lazy to do an End of the Year meme. So, here was my day:
-Got Star Trek (2009), Bart Got a Room, and Fanboys on DVD
-Watched an episode of John Adams and Fanboys with my dad
-Got a call from the music store saying that my ukulele was in!
-Went to the music store, only to discover that they called me 15 minutes AFTER the store closed...and that they're closed tomorrow. Grr argh.
Anyway, here are my resolutions:
-Keep up my blogging streak as much as possible
-Maybe go to a frat party or two
-Keep making my way through the movie lists
-Get better at the ukulele
-Complete February Album Writing Month

...due to babysitting. I'm certainly glad I did it yesterday, because I didn't get home until nearly one. I did, however, have a chance to read all 417 pages of Extras after the boys went to bed.
I'm sitting for another family tonight. They're the ones I wanted to have my new ukulele for when I came, but it's still not at the store. Even the Dorm Life twitter is supporting me in my quest for a replacement ukulele. (I'm not even kidding).
Anyway, I'm just watching The Big Bang Theory before I leave. I have to be there in an hour, so I can fit in another episode or so before I go.
Later.
♥

...with TVDs...I can't stop buying them, and I have no space left for them.
Today I bought: season 6 and 7 of The Simpsons, season one of Joan of Arcadia, and Demetri Martin. Person.
I finished marathoning season 3 of Will and Grace, and I'm half a disc away from finishing s. 4 of The Simpsons. I'm going to keep chugging through Will and Grace, but I'll probably take a Simpsons break for The Big Bang Theory next.
My dad and I are watching John Adams, which is really good. Also, I think it's helping my dad realize that maybe my being a History minor isn't such a bad thing, after all.
I'll most likely be getting my new ukulele tomorrow! Yay!

...and saw Up in the Air and Nine. Both of which were very good.
This morning, I went to Target and scored season 4 of How I Met Your Mother, season 2 of The Big Bang Theory, and volume 7 of Family Guy...all for $50.27. It was a good morning.
I have a serious TVD addiction, but it's totally worth it. Tomorrow, I'll probably go over to Movie Stop and see their return policy for the first three seasons of Charmed. (I got them for Christmas, but I already had them).
3 out of my 11 textbook orders have shipped. I'm going to be getting a lot of packages over the coming weeks.
I've got a babysitting gig lined up for Wednesday. I get to bring my ukulele.
My team won the second apocalypse at
whedonland ! Yay, Team Dollhouse!
So, how are you?

...a Very Merry Christmas To Everyone On My Flist. I know some of you don't celebrate Christmas, but it's still Christmas day, and I hope it's a good day for all of you.
Anyway, I pretty much scored, gift-wise. I was pretty sure I knew everything I was getting, but not so much.
Here's what I knew I was getting:
-A NEW UKULELE! (Penelope...more on that later)
-Seasons 3/4 and 5 of Saved by the Bell
-Season 4 of The Simpsons
-Roswell: The complete series
-Season 8 of Will and Grace
Here's what I got that I didn't know I was getting:
*From my sister*
-A Rock Band t-shirt
-Gnome socks
-A book of ukulele songs (which is cool, because my sister hates it when I play the ukulele)
*From the parental units*
-CAT-EYE GLASSES. Like, legit cat-eye glasses WITH rhinestones AND my lenses already in them!
-THE COMPLETE STAR TREK: TOS (Note: my dad got this and TNG free from a friend)
-THE COMPLETE STAR TREK: TNG
-All eight seasons of Charmed (I already had 1-3, but I'm going to return them for store credit)
-New headphones
-John Adams, the complete mini-series on BluRay
-Rome, the complete series
-A sweatshirt jacket
-A t-shirt
-A NaNoWriMo poster
I'm going to go ahead and say that it was a kick awesome Christmas.
EXCEPT: (Here's the 'more on that later' I promised about Penelope) So, I go downstairs, and Penelope's A string is hanging by a tuner. I tried getting it on, like, 15 times, but it kept popping out. I'm going to take her to the music store tomorrow to get a new string. In the meantime, she sounds surprisingly good with just the three strings.
Also, Britt and Grace R., I got your cards yesterday. Thank you so much!
EDIT: Here's my new ukulele and my new glasses:

...because it's Christmas Eve, and I probably won't have a chance to blog tonight.
In case you're wondering, this is what we do on Christmas Eve:
-My sister and I open our gifts from each other
-We get new pjs to wear on Christmas morning
-We watch The Santa Clause (or one of the sequels)
-We play games in front of the fire (which usually results in at least one of us getting a nose bleed)
-We sleep on the floor of my parents' room (I know, but it's tradition)
-We eat Shepard's Pie!
We used to go to Christmas Eve services, but our church does them the week before Christmas, because it's so HUGE. (This year's was AMAZING...well, the music was...there wasn't much of a service...don't get me started).
We'll probably watch A Christmas Story before The Santa Clause, because it's my dad's favorite Christmas movie (we have a leg lamp).
Anyway, Merry Christmas to most of you and Happy Holidays to the rest!

...except for my dad having a huge bitch fit that I didn't want to go see the mall Santa. (Yes, I'm serious). He's totally clinging on to Christmas this year or something. It's pretty ridic, and he needs to CHILL.
In other news, HOLY SHIT IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS. I know I've said that every day for the past week, but it's less than two hours until Christmas Eve.
I got a really sweet card from Madi today. Thanks, bb!
There's more to write about, but I'm lazy.

...because I've got stuff to watch on the DVR. (Yes, I know how lame that sounds).
I went shopping with my dad today. I got a snazzy new microphone with which to record my ukulele songs and my stuff for the Star Trek musical. I also got this box set of Academy Award Best Picture winners including It Happened One Night, which I LOVE.
I'm totes behind on holiday cards, so they probably won't be sent until after Christmas. I'm just a lazy bum, really.
Okay, Tabatha's Salon Takeover time.
I hope everyone is having a good week! (And HOLY SHIT, IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!)
PS Congrats to
horcrionebay for getting into college! And, because I don't think I mentioned this, my sister got into her top choice school!

...I'm doing February Album Writing Month this year. And, I thought it would be cool if the "theme" (although, I don't really need one) for my album was TV shows. So, 14 songs about different TV shows.
Have a poll about it.
